Operations Director
Paul Johnstone

Paul is our Operations Director & Head of IT. With over 29+ years experience working directly for UK water companies. His previous position as a senior manager role at a water company in the South West and Southern England, brings a wealth of knowledge expertise.

He has experience, skill and knowledge of network design, operational activity, pressure management, modelling, supply interruption, leakage, growth and PR submissions.

As a proficient hydraulic network modelling manager and user of InfoWorks WS, delivering schemes that reduce leakage, extends ageing asset life and reduces supply interruption. Experienced in project management delivery of schemes to improve network resilience and operational control.

From his previous roles working for UK water company's, he is able to confidently work with water company staff to ensure that ODI and AMP regulatory targets are understood and objectives met. He also experience using GIS, Leakage and SI software & finance packages, and many other associated apps and technology used in the water industry.

Client Services Director
Simon Croft

Simon is our Client Service Director, with over 24 years of experience working in the water industry including 15 years working directly for a large water company in the east of England in a senior manager role.

He has considerable experience, skill and knowledge of water distribution network design, and is able to manage the building and calibrating of network models to a high standard while integrating corporate data and hydraulic modelling services together to enable real time updates.

He has extensive knowledge in developing solutions for and reporting persistent low pressures (formerly Dg2). Simon regularly engages the wider water industry regarding modelling services, ODIs, optimisation, housing growth, strategic real time modelling. Providing resources, guidance, asset management and strategic planning.

Simon having experience as a manager within a UK water company, understands the needs and pressures that water companies are under and is able to work closely with water company teams to ensure that regulatory and internal targets are meet.

Director of Water Quality Services
Alan Maher

Alan is Director of Water Quality Services with over 20 years’ experience in clean water networks, including 15 years with a major UK water company.

He is a Chartered Water and Environmental Manager and holds an MSc in Modelling, together with the Association of Project Managers Introductory Certificate (APMiC). His management background spans client and consultancy modelling teams, operations and central operations teams, providing him with broad cross‑functional insight and the ability to anticipate client needs.

A recognised technical leader in water quality modelling, Alan specialises in turbidity modelling using PODDS and has been an active member of the University of Sheffield PODDS consortium for 16 years. He has led multiple planned programmes of work and provided technical advice to senior directors during high‑profile industry water quality incidents.

Alan has authored water company strategy documents to meet ODI requirements for taste, odour and appearance, and is applying automation to improve root‑cause identification. He is an experienced trainer and modeller, proficient in Synergi, Infoworks, MapInfo and ArcMap.

Services Alan offers include: strategy development; turbidity and trunk-main VCDM modelling; automated conditioning design; rezone modelling; chlorine decay modelling; time-of-travel and water-age analysis; discolouration risk mapping; operational modelling; and technical training.
